Trees, glorious trees
20 Maple trees have been planted in spare pockets around the school.
This year pupils have planted a further 20 native field maple trees in spare pockets around the school and in spaces in which young saplings have died. These were generously donated by the Gwent Wildlife Trust, and we are grateful to Petra, Beccy and Rob for their help with planting.
We no longer have any more space to plant trees, so our next focus will be to create a wildflower strip alongside the entrance to welcome everyone arriving at school and, of course, to attract insects and birds.
We also have put in a hopeful lottery bid to try and gain funding for a green roof on a PE container. That reminds me, perhaps we should ask Mr O’Driscoll (Head of PE) if he minds!
“Excuse me, Mr O’Driscoll...you know that container...?!”
